ARE YOU WALKING IN AUTHORITY WITH HIM?
Are you lost? Are you alone? Are you adrift in your circumstances?
In the many “seasons” we experience throughout our lifetime, we can often find ourselves run aground on rocks of doubt and confusion. In these moments, we are commonly encouraged to “fear not” or “give it to God,” —- and these are good words to consider. But I think there is something deeper that we should recognize as a central part of our ability to stand firm.
Christ’s precious sacrifice on the cross joined with His ultimate triumph over death, has placed us in a position of being able to stand with Him. We are under His authority and can claim that as our own. But we must understand what that means before we can successfully walk with Him in His strength and protection.
We are His. We are bought and paid for with His blood. It is not a mistake, nor is it a cheap gesture. It is direct and intentional. It is the freedom to live and move under the name of Jesus Christ. We are to be unencumbered. It is His truth that flows over, into, and through us. And if we can know and accept all of the truth that is given to us, then we can walk with steadfast and solid certainty.
However, if that knowledge should become clouded or lost in us, then we will become less than who He made us to be. We will start to question and falter in how we move forward. Our life will grow tentative and hesitant.
Too often, we fluctuate between strength and weakness because our connection to Jesus gets shaken. And then, feeling that somehow Jesus is not with us, we make the grave error of trying to do things in our power/authority. Truly, our identity can only be found in Christ. He was given all authority. And we are His.
So we need to walk life together. We are called to live in what some refer to as “the shadow of God.” Having His presence close and with us denies the enemy a foothold in our spirit. The Holy Spirit in us connects us to all that Jesus is, and all the Father offers today. We are joined, and therefore we can walk freely.
And we can stay connected through all the disciplines we apply in our life: prayer, reading Scripture, rest, reflection, and being in the company of fellow disciples of Christ. We are joined with Him in all things.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17
His name is power. Know Him. Abide in Him. Have Him over and through you – seeing His leadership in everything. His strength is your strength.
And in that truth – walk in the full authority He brings you.
