Great Is Your Faithfulness Oh God!
21 Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: 22 The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. 23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. 24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” 25 The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. 26 So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord. Lamentations 3:21-26 (NLT).
Jeremiah saw hope in the midst of lamenting all the sin, sorrow, and devastation surrounding him and encouraged himself. He remembered God’s steadfast love, His mercy and faithfulness and his soul shifted from his despair to the LORD of his salvation. Jeremiah remembered the Lord’s never-ending faithful love and His compassion that never fails. He remembered God’s steadfast love in the past, the Lord’s promise of covenant love and faithfulness (Deuteronomy 7:9) and dared to trust in God’s faithfulness in his present. He stood in the truth of God’s character: Faithful Love, Trustworthy, All-knowing, Present, Mighty! His love for us keeps us, sustains us, and carries us.
Trusting in God’s faithfulness day by day makes us confident in His great promise for the future. Each dawning day gives us new hope of fresh mercies and compassion from a loving God. No matter how bad the last day was, God’s people can look to a new morning with faith and hope. God will give you all you need for each day – Ask! Father, give us this day our daily bread, everything we need today to nourish our spirit and body – be it Peace, Joy, Strength, Courage, Provision. Lord, give us this day our daily bread! Every morning ends the night, every morning brings a new day, every morning brings a fresh experience of God’s love, every morning brings new mercies, every morning brings new strength!
Jeremiah’s heart is encouraged as his faith grows from daring to declaring.
“I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore I will hope in Him.” Lamentations 3: 24(NLT). He declares that the LORD was his portion! Whatever measure he was to receive, whatever inheritance, whatever future, it would all be found in GOD. These are words of a satisfied soul. Jeremiah had no other place of satisfaction, he was settled with the inheritance received, and that portion was the LORD HIMSELF! Selah!
The LORD is good to those who trust in HIM, depend on Him, and diligently seek Him, His Name, His Glory, when He becomes the object of their affection, their pursuit. Glory! It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD. Waiting requires stamina; courage to be still and wait. Jeremiah is not waiting in vain; he is waiting with expectation for the Salvation of the LORD, the One Who Is Mighty to Save to the uttermost, his Deliverer, his Redeemer. The LORD of my Salvation!
“Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign LORD is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to tread on the heights. Habk.3:18-19”
