Covered by the Word of God
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God will stand forever. Isaiah 40:8 ESV
As I look out on a crisp Fall morning, I see the grass-covered in leaves, the trees bare and exposed to the elements, with their arms reaching towards heaven. Everything is covered in frost. The ground will harden as frost sets in, the flowers will fade and turn to brown piles on the ground. Everything has come to the end of its seasonal cycle, and we know to expect this every year.
I cannot help but think of us; when we are bare and exposed, and the storm comes, we are vulnerable if we are not properly covered and prepared for the weather that awaits us. We, too, go through seasons, just like the grass and flowers, where we are full and beautiful. But then the season of storms comes, and we are either bare and exposed or covered up and protected through God’s Word in the storms. When we prepare our hearts through God’s Word, we are covered by Him. He promises to shelter us in the storms and cover us under the shadow of His wings.
God’s Word will never change, and when we study it, it will transform us. When the storms come, we will not be shaken; we will not be moved. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the depths of the sea.” Psalm 46:1-2 ESV
Just as we anticipate what will happen to the plants each season, we can also be confident that God will shelter us in the storms.
His Word will stand forever, and that we can be certain of.

Thank you Jane, this is confirmation for me. The Lord has been laying on my heart to stay in the Word and focused on Him learning all I can while I so I will be prepared when those inevitable season of drought come.
