“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus himself said: “it is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35 NIV.
As we walk through our Faith journey with the Lord, we are constantly reminded of the precious gifts that He has lavished on us from the very first day we welcomed Him into our lives. Even as you read this sentence, I believe that your mind is filling with images of numerous blessings you have experienced.
THAT is a fabulous thing.
But there is actually something else even greater than that thought. And I would ask you to grab ahold of this thought with both hands:”
YOU are ALSO the GIFT!
Everything that The Father shares with us should NOT stop there. It needs to flow THROUGH us and out to those all around us. Remember the analogy about the Dead Sea? Water flows in, but it doesn’t flow out. Thus, it is not alive. It is a wet salt-water pool; devoid of anything living. But, as disciples of Jesus Christ, we should have left “dead” behind us!
However, too many followers of Jesus Christ come eagerly to Him but then somehow get stuck. We go in search of the treasure of Spiritual Gifts, specific words from God, or the hidden secret of our purpose – but then stall in incompleteness. I put it to you that when you are The Gift and letting Him flow out through your thoughts, words, and actions, that insight will naturally be given back to you from the Lord as you engage. Scripture speaks to us about being encouraged to take a step towards God so He can then take one towards us in answer. You might be shocked to see how much He feeds back to you in those areas that we all desire to hear and receive from God when we are in action as His Gift. A divine exchange. And the best point of this is that we do NOT require any extraordinary abilities or training to get started. You can hold doors open, speak an encouraging word, lend assistance to a neighbour, help a person in need, or give generously to support a worthy cause. It’s all in you – naturally. To be sure, the pursuit of those previously mentioned treasures is not a bad thing. But I believe we can actually “serve” our way through to them versus simply awaiting divine intervention.
I heartily believe in the Scriptural thought that, “You were created for a time such as this.” And, although we will inevitably spend time examining God’s Word and sending up prayers for hints on what we were created for – at the end (or is it in the beginning), it all flows out of the simple action trigger: I am also the Gift.
So don’t delay.
TODAY, RIGHT NOW, without much preparation or even forethought (depending on the circumstance) – you can take a Jesus-size step to bless others that are both immediately obvious and incredibly doable.
It’s time.
Be His Gift!!
