Effective faith is based on a principle of submission to authority.
“Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, ‘Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘I will come and heal him.’ The centurion answered and said, ‘Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man under authority…’ Jesus responded, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!'” Matthew 8:5-10
Biblical faith stands under authority. Victorious faith is faith that believes the Word of God and acts upon it. People often ask me, “can you give me a simple definition of faith?” Faith simply means believing something is true and committing your life to it. In the bible, faith means believing in God and in what Jesus accomplished on the cross. You can only strengthen your faith by feeding on the source of your faith, which is the Word of God.
Matthew 4:4 calls the Word of God your daily bread, your daily supply of food.
I pray that you will desire victorious faith, that you will submit your life to what you believe in and that you would hunger for the Word of God like a newborn baby’s hunger for its mother’s milk. And, as you feed on the Word, you will be strengthened for every challenge and every battle you may face.
