“I am your Father. I have you, don’t worry, I won’t let you go. You want Me to speak, but I speak in the small things, in the everyday things. Don’t shut Me out; listen, I am always speaking. Take the time to hear, to listen. Listen to Me in the sunrise, in the sunset, in the wind. I am still speaking in the noise of this culture as I always have been speaking through the generations. Tune your ears to hear My voice. I am the Lord, your God, the Alpha, the Omega, your Creator. I thought of you, planned you, breathed you into existence. My path is good; cling to it. I won’t let you go. Even when you think you don’t see Me or feel Me, I am there. I am with you always and forever. I love you with an everlasting love, a love you can’t understand, a love so vast, deep and wide, it knows no boundaries. You need to understand this; you don’t understand it yet. No matter what comes, you can always rest assured that I love you and always will. As you love your children, I love you as My child. As you tire and grow weary, come to Me for strength. I never run out of strength to lift you up. You are My jewel, shining brightly in the world. When your sparkle grows dim, come to Me to refresh, revive, and restore your light.”
I wrote the words above during one of my morning devotion times back in March. Sometimes when I quiet myself and ask God to speak to me, He gives me these amazing downloads.
In that same week, I felt the Holy Spirit direct my thoughts to Luke 13. While reading it, Luke 13:19, the story about the Kingdom of God being like a tiny mustard seed, stood out to me. Jesus said the Kingdom of God was like a tiny mustard seed that grows into an enormous tree.
“Again he said, ‘What shall we say the Kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.’” Mark 4:30-32 NIV.
I looked up a few commentaries for this passage and was encouraged to find a common theme: Tiny, seemingly insignificant things matter. Things that seem small and insignificant to us are the important building blocks in the Kingdom of God. I find this really encouraging as I tend toward big thinking, thinking I need to do big significant things or become famous in the world, to have used my life well. Yet, I believe the Holy Spirit is whispering that I just need to stay faithful in the little things and accomplish the seemingly small tasks I’m given to contribute significantly to the Kingdom. Simple small acts; kind words spoken at the right time, raising my children in the faith, writing my blogs, sharing my God moments and testimonies with others, giving to people who need help, these are what God asks of me. Though they may seem small and insignificant in the worldwide context, they are the pieces I can contribute to the Kingdom. God can use all these small things for the greater good.
Father God, thank you for reminding me of Your presence in everyday things. That You are always with me through the regular mundane trenches of life, help me see the things I can do to further Your Kingdom in this world, even when they seem small and unimportant to me. Thank you for Your everlasting love for me!

There are times when I really don’t even want to do the small chores around the house and turn to God for the strength and desire to take care of even the little things knowing if I neglect them, they can turn into big things. It is amazing to know He is in everything we do and He will give us the strength and desire to do what we need to do, whatever that may be…even in the mundane. Thank you Melissa xo
