Praying for Youths in Our Generation.

Rhonda prayed this prayer during the Student Take Over Service, June 27, 2021.

Dear Heavenly Father, together we stand upon Your Word, declaring that You are a dwelling place from generation to generation. Today we pray for the youth in our generation, not just those we know but also those across this city and around the world. We declare that this will be a generation that will seek You, know You, serve You, and dwell in Your house forever.

VISION

Lord, develop within them strong self-esteem that is rooted in the realization that they are Your workmanship! Stir within this generation an awareness of Your plans and open their eyes, ears, hearts, and minds to Your vision for their lives. We declare that this generation will know and understand the call that You’ve placed upon them, the inheritance that You’ve given them, and what You have positioned them for at such a time as this.

SET APART

Father God, we declare that this generation will love justice as much as You do and will act justly in everything they do. We declare that they will have the same mind and attitude towards others as You have towards us. We pray that this generation will choose to encourage one another and build each other up, letting no unwholesome words proceed from their mouths so that their words may give grace to others.

BOLDNESS

We pray that this generation will be the greatest witnesses for Jesus that we have ever known. We pray that they will have a heart to see Your glory declared among the nations and Your marvelous deeds among all the peoples! We declare that the words will be given to them by the Holy Spirit whenever they speak to confidently make known the gospel.

SELF CONTROL

We pray that this will be a generation that will hunger and thirst for righteousness, that they will pursue a life of integrity, virtue, honesty, purity, uprightness, and self-discipline by the power of the Holy Spirit within them. We declare that they are sons of Light and daughters of Day, walking in the light of Christ, dressed up in faith, love and the hope of salvation.

REMOVING IDOLS/HIGH PLACES

We pray that this generation would be like Josiah, who chose to honour his God first and chose to tear down the idols from all the high places. We pray for a spirit of conviction from the Holy Spirit and a passion for obeying the Word of God. We declare that this generation will unapologetically pursue what is right before You Lord and that they would live their lives fearlessly for You Jesus, regardless of the opinions or pressures of those around them.

YOUTH PASTORS/LEADERS

We pray that you would anoint our Pastors and our current and future youth leaders. Would you shower them with your favour. We pray for your protection and blessing over each leader as they pursue you in the secret place. We pray that you would speak through them and impart to them your spirit of wisdom. We declare that our leaders will be strong and courageous in the Lord, that they will speak with authority from on high and live lives of integrity and power. We declare that each leader will see You on the move in their sphere of influence.

AGAINST THE LIES OF THE ENEMY

We pray that you, Jesus, would crush the schemes of the enemy under our feet. We pray against anxiety, depression, insecurity and suicide. We pray against all lies of the enemy and for the protection of Your angel armies around our youth. We pray that there would be an impenetrable wall surrounding them as they seek you, in Jesus’ name! We declare that we are who you say we are and that any other lie holds no authority over our youth in Jesus’ name! We declare that any ground the enemy has tried to take would be won back in Your name. We declare that you hold all power and authority to heal what is broken and restore what was lost.

CLOSING

Heavenly Father, thank You for pouring Your Spirit out on the sons and daughters of this generation. We thank You that they will experience Your goodness in the land of the living. Generation after generation stands in awe of Your works, and we declare that our young people will testify to Your mighty acts. Father God, You are magnificent, and there are no boundaries to Your greatness!
