Jesus responded, “Beloved daughter, your faith in Me released your healing. Go with My peace.” Luke 8:43 (TPT)
In just a few verses, this woman enters the text unnamed, labelled unclean, treated an outcast, and leaves healed and made whole, from rejection to belonging, under the law covered by grace. She has suffered for 12 years, with an issue of blood day in and day out, weak in strength, drained, and yet she will not give up, determined to reach Jesus through a pressing shoving crowd. Her ailment has brought her close in proximity to hope; she pushes through believing that if she could just touch the hem of His garment, she would be healed and lowers herself to the tassels on His cloak that symbolized the commandments and promises of God. And in faith, she LAYS HOLD OF HER PROMISE FOR HEALING AND POWER FLOWS! Immediately she is healed, and Jesus is aware of it too. Her faith in Jesus connected her to His power to heal her!
In the midst of a pressing crowd, only one touched Jesus with faith that released saving power. Jesus asks, “Who touched Me because I know THAT POWER HAS GONE OUT OF ME.” She hoped to slip away unnoticed, but Jesus noticed, she comes trembling and falls before Him, and in the presence of all the people, she tells Him the reason and how she was healed instantly. Jesus sees her and tenderly affirms her identity, restores her self-worth, her value, and calls her “Daughter, your faith has healed you.” He establishes whose she is, acknowledges her faith, and proceeds to bless her “Go in peace,” whole, complete in her body, soul, and mind, her destiny forever changed.
As children of God, are we living and walking in our identity as God sees us in Christ, who has done everything for us, or has the issues of life, heart, and false beliefs kept us from fully believing who we are and whose we are? Our true identity is found only in Christ—to make known His—it empowers us to confidently share His love with others. In Ephesians 1:3-10, our Father has blessed us with every spiritual blessing. In Christ, we were always loved, chosen, lavished by grace, redeemed and set free. We are a people belonging to God, a kingdom of priests representing man to God and God to man, that we may proclaim the praise of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvellous light. Let it be heard, GO in wholeness, soundness, complete In Christ. Amen & Amen (1 Peter 2:9).
