And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
In the midst of all the chaos around you and your life, God has your back. Let me take you back to the year 2012 when I was 8 years old. I was diagnosed with having a tumor bigger than the size of my heart in my left ovary. Even though I was just a child, I understood that I had to get surgery. On top of it all, the doctors had told my parents that they weren’t sure if the tumor I had was benign or malign. On May 24th, 2012, as an 8-year-old, I was on the hospital surgery table getting my tumor and my left ovary removed. The tumor had invaded my ovary, so it had to be removed as well. After surgery, the doctor went to tell my parents the tumor I had was benign. At such a young age, I saw the mercy and love that The Lord had for me. Through that whole process, God had my back, and He was right there on the surgery table with me. At that extremely young age, I didn’t quite understand the severity of this until a few years later when the same situation happened again.
In 2016, I was diagnosed a second time with a tumor, this time on my right ovary. I was now 12 and had a little more knowledge of what was going to happen. Though, things were a little bit more complicated this time around. If the tumor had invaded my whole ovary as it did previously, I would have to get my right ovary removed, and it would leave me barren. When the doctor delivered the news to my family and me, I couldn’t help but cry. I asked God, “Why me? Why again?” After 4 years, I was in the same situation, and I couldn’t help but feel down. In the days leading up to the surgery, my family and I prayed to God for a miracle. On the day of the surgery, my family and I prayed once more before going in.
Once the anesthesia had died off and I woke up, the first thing I asked my mom was, “Did they have to remove my ovary?” That day I truly saw God’s grace and mercy. She told me the doctor said he didn’t have to remove my right ovary, and it turns out, I still had a little bit of my left ovary. Ever since that day, I thank God for leaving me my ovary because now I can speak on my experience and testify to the wonderful miracle God performed in my life. God has different ways of manifesting Himself through your life, and don’t doubt for a second that He doesn’t have a plan for you. You are beloved and cared for by God, and no matter how bad the situation may seem, God ALWAYS has your back. It may seem like you are down in the pits, but He can make a miracle happen in your life.
