Our HEARTstrong prayer team is praying for you. This word from the Lord was given to Lindsay Bechamps, and the prayer team aligned in prayer to believe God for this breakthrough for you!
Thus says the LORD: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord. He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land.” Jeremiah 17:5-6(ESV)
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is in the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought for it does not cease to bear fruit.”Jeremiah 17:7-8(ESV)
The image of the shrub in the desert compared to the fruitful tree planted by streams is so powerful! When we find our strength in what humanity has to offer us, even at its best, we will be like a shrub in the desert, without roots and without resources to survive. I can picture that shrub tumbling across the desert landscape alone because it can’t withstand the drought; it can’t survive.
In contrast to the shrub, as we place our trust in the Lord, we experience something that no earthly resource can offer us. There are supernatural resources available to us that our flesh and all that humanity offers us cannot provide. I can picture this green tree bearing fruit, even amid the scorching heat and a year of drought. A drought is a prolonged period with below-normal precipitation that diminishes stream flow and causes crop damage. Yet, His word tells us that we don’t need to fear or be anxious because as we trust in Him, HE WILL PROTECT US AND PROVIDE FOR US.
In my spirit, I could see that these green trees weren’t all large, hundred-year-old green trees planted by the stream. Some of these trees were small, young trees, and yet their leaves were also green. These younger trees were still bearing fruit amid the scorching heat and the yearlong drought. It wasn’t the size of the tree that mattered….it was the stream that it was planted beside. Their roots went out to the stream.
When I looked up this passage in my Bible, the study notes said that we are “Settled with resources no matter what happens” Wow! I have been praying for this, for every member of HEARTtstrong. YOU ARE SETTLED WITH RESOURCES NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS! I am settled with resources no matter what happens! Would you join me in praying and declaring this truth today?
Father God, many of us feel like we are in a year of drought. We feel the scorching heat upon us. We feel anxiety as we consider what the impacts of this ‘year of drought’ could be for our finances, our relationships, our businesses, our children, our marriages, and our spiritual lives. Jesus, today in faith, we pray and trust that as we plant ourselves by Your streams that we will experience Your provision and Your refreshment. We declare, in faith, that we are settled with resources no matter what happens! God, we pray for everyone who feels like a shrub, alone, tumbling across the desert. Today Lord, we pray that they would put their trust in You. We pray that they would plant themselves by Your river of life and as they send out their roots, by Your stream, that they would be overcome with Your peace.
Thank you, Lord, that You settle us with resources no matter what comes our way!

This is so powerful! And such a good reminder to me that I am to look to God for my provision and not be shaken by my circumstances. I am settled with resources; thank you, God!

I love the promise that I am settled with resources and that it is NO MATTER WHAT! That is very powerful, and I’m so thankful for this program and God’s unending love for me.

When I read this, Lindsay, I remember feeling like that shrub tumbling alone in the dry, scorching hot desert. Now so grateful to take my nourishment from the stream of Living Water. I pray for those in the desert that their shrivelling roots realize their thirst and are attracted to the stream that provides life-giving water. I pray their roots grow deep, they blossom, and they flourish abundantly as they trust in the provision and protection of our Creator.
